Epiphone Shinichi Ubukata ES-355 Custom Olive Drab 2023 Electric Guitar

This is an Epiphone Shinichi Ubukata ES-355 Custom semi-hollow electric guitar in Gloss Olive Drab finish. Made in China in 2023, this guitar is the Signature Model for the guitarist Shinichi Ubukata of Ellegarden and Nothing’s Carved in Stone. Having long favoured the old-school elegance of the ES-355 for its distinct brand of alt-rock edge, Epiphone have closely based this guitar after his sought after 335. This guitar features a set-neck construction comprising a 5-Ply Maple body with Solid Maple centre block, Mahogany neck and 22 Medium Jumbo fret Ebony fingerboard. This instrument is fitted with Nickel hardware including a ABR-1 LockTone bridge and a Bigsby Licensed B70 tailpiece, a set of Grover tuning machines are also featured. The pickups featured are a pair of Gibson 57 Classic humbuckers pickups, these are wired to a 3-way selector, bridge volume, bridge tone, neck volume, neck tone, 6-position Varitone switch.

The Mahogany neck plays well, with the Rounded ‘C’ profile feeling chunky in the hand without being at all cumbersome. This creates a feeling of dependability whilst remaining articulate enough for technical playing, whilst retaining the character you would expect from a guitar of this style. The Ebony fingerboard is Luxurious under the fingers, adorned with Big Block inlays and side binding, this neck features a traditional 12” radius that is well suited to a wide range of genres and playing styles. The addition of Medium Jumbo frets enhances the feel of vibrato and string bending techniques whilst also providing a rock-solid playing surface. The familiar lines of the ES-335 body are as comfortable in the arms as ever, manageable in both standing and seated positions.

The semi-hollow body design of the ES-335 Custom provides a warm, natural resonance that adds depth and dimension to the guitar’s tone. The solid Maple centre block helps to reduce any unwanted feedback and unwanted resonance, resulting in a more defined sound. The guitar resonates beautifully, filling out the sound with a deep and rich character. The Gibson 57 Classic neck pickup is warm and round, and can handle plenty of gain meaning you can achieve anything from jazzy lines through to soaring rock and blues solo tones. The Gibson 57 Classic bridge pickup excels at driving the front end of an amp with ease and producing the bright, biting tones that cut right through the mix to put your playing front and centre. The 6-way Varitone switch acts as a notch filter to suppress certain frequencies, and offers 6 unique voices which are almost infinitely variable thanks to the standard controls. A versatile instrument that can cover a lot of different styles from blues and jazz to hard hitting rock.
