Martin D-16E Natural Satin 2016 Electro-Acoustic Guitar - Description
This is a Martin D-16E Electro-Acoustic Guitar in Natural Satin finish. Made in the USA in 2016, a Simple Dovetail Neck Joint construction is applied for this guitar with features consisting of a Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, a Select Hardwood neck and a 20-fret Ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include a set of Nickel Open Gear tuning machines with ‘Butterbean’ buttons, Forward-Shifted Scalloped X Bracing and a matching Bone nut and saddle. A Fishman Matrix VT Enhance system is installed, and is wired to soundhole-mounted master volume & tone controls as well as a tuner.
The Select Hardwood neck plays very well, with Martin’s ‘Modified Low Oval’ profile feeling nice and slender in the hand without being too thin; striking a perfect balance between comfort for chord playing and practicality for fingerstyle techniques and complex parts. The Satin finish to the rear of the neck aids in smooth transitions, this and the luxurious 16” radius Ebony fingerboard provide a tactile, joyous affair when navigating the register. The D-14 fret and 000 depth sized body design is supremely comfortable in the arms, meaning that long practice sessions on the sofa are just as fatigue-free as long gigs.
The Martin D-16E has a beautifully warm and rich voice, with a pleasing mellowness to its sound due to its all-solid construction. The D-14 fret size has been renowned for its clear, open and uniform response across all 6 strings, striking the perfect balance between the strong bass response and volume of the dreadnought and the intimate, balanced sound of the Parlor, the tone is well suited to both chordal and melodic playing styles. It has a rich low end with clear mids, and an unpronounced yet appealing high end. Well suited to both fingerstyle and strumming, this guitar has a mellow yet distinctive sound that will stand out from the crowd. The on-board Fishman MArtin VT Enhance system provides the versatility required for live and recording situations, meaning this guitar is ready for wherever the gig takes you.
