Strandberg Boden Plini Edition Natural 2017 Headless Electric Guitar - Description
This is a Strandberg Boden Plini Edition Headless Electric Guitar in Natural finish. Made in Indonesia in 2017, this guitar consists of a Swamp Ash body, a Maple top with an Australian Blackwood Veneer, a Roasted Maple neck, and a 24-fret Multi-Scale Ebony fingerboard. Other appointments include a Strandberg-designed EGS Series 5 Tremolo Bridge, an EndurNeck profile, and a set of Suhr Passive Humbucking pickups. These pickups are wired to a master volume, and a three-way pickup selector.
The Roasted Maple neck plays exceptionally well, with the ‘EndurNeck’ profile offering a unique playing experience that whilst unusual at first does encourage ergonomic thumb positioning in all registers. The flattened area to the rear transitions smoothly from the bass side to the treble side as you climb the neck, following the line your thumb would naturally take as you move from chord playing in the lower register to lead lines in the higher frets. The pronounced edges of the profile actually offer comfortable anchor points for the thumb to rest on. The notably flat 20” fingerboard radius is highly practical for lead lines and soloing, and along with the large stainless steel frets ensures that your string bending and vibrato techniques are a smooth and effortless affair.
The pair of Suhr humbucking pickups deliver clear and precise tones, just as you would expect from such a laser-focussed instrument. Clean sounds are rich and shimmering, especially in the bridge position which is nice and bright. The warmth and roundness of the neck pickup is well suited to lead lines and solos and easily cuts through even the densest of mixes. Both pickups can handle a serious amount of gain, saturating into a rich harmonic distortion as you crank the gain control on the amp. The control layout is restrained, offering zero complication when it comes to taking control of your instrument. A striking looking instrument with the specification and precision to back up its outlandish aesthetics.
